  • Charbono Varietal

    Charbono

    • Originally from the French Alps region of Savoie

    • Limited amount planted, mostly old vines located in the Napa Valley

    • Flavorful, rich wines which have the potential for aging

  • Carignan grape variety

    Carignane

    • This productive Spanish varietal has been part of the Californian vineyard landscape for a long time

    • Can produce bold, robust flavors, particularly from old vines

    • Century old vines are still present in the vineyards of Sonoma and Contra Costa county

  • Cinsault Grape Variety

    Cinsault

    • Provencal grape variety used in the production of dry rose wine.

    • Can be made in elegant, red-berry laced red wine

    Good blending partner where it is adding its vibrant fruitiness, enhanced aromatics and softened tannins

  • Mourvedre Grape

    Mourvedre

    • Produce, dark, rich wine that are well adapted to California climate

    • At the origin of the best Provencal red: Bandol wine

    • Add depth and complexity in red Rhone blend

  • Aglianico Grapes

    Aglianico

    • Lesser known southern italian varietal with great potential

    • Produces rich, tannic and age-worthy reds

    • Unfortunately Still marginally found in California

  • Tannat Grape

    Tannat

    • Dense, tannic red wine from the south-west part of France

    • Found a second home in the vineyards of Uruguay

    • Can produce rich and complex wine in California

  • Valdiguie grape

    Valdiguie

    • Recently discovered origin is in the Languedoc-Roussillon, France

    • For the longest time, thought to be closer to Gamay because of the wine resemblance to Beaujolais

    • Found a new meaning and life in California vineyards, particularly Napa. However, marginal produced today

  • Barbera grape

    Barbera

    • Most successful Piemontese varietal in California

    • Produces fruit forward, approachable wines

    • Experimentation with barrel aging and limited yields in Piemonte in the 80’s produced world class wines

  • Petite Sirah grape

    Petite Sirah

    • From the Savoie region in France, where it is known as Durif

    • Develop a new style in California, with rich, deeply flavored and age worthy wines.

  • Albarino grapevine

    Albarino

    • Originated in northwest part of Spain and Portugal

    • Found a new home in the cooler vineyards of the central coast

    • Produces mineral, floral scented wines with refreshing acidity

  • Chenin Blanc grape variety

    Chenin Blanc

    • Grapevines with a long history in the Loire Valley, France

    • Was one of the most planted California grape variety in the 50’s

    • At its best, produces mineral laden, fresh and floral whites

  • Gruner Veltliner Grape Variety

    Gruner Veltliner

    • Old grape variety that originated in Austria

    • Versatile grapes that deliver food friendly wines in a large variety of style

    • Mostly planted in California cooler central coast vineyards

  • Semillon Grape

    Semillon

    • Traditional partner of Sauvignon Blanc in dry and sweet white Bordeaux

    • Has shown to be a more versatile grape variety in new world vineyards, particularly from the vineyards of Hunter Valley, Australia

  • Roussanne Grapes

    Roussanne

    • Lesser known grape variety from the northern Rhone valley

    • Blended with Marsanne, makes distinctive white blend

    • Makes highly scented and complex wines

  • Viognier Grape

    Viognier

    • Most famous Northern Rhone valley grape variety

    • Produces highly aromatic, full bodied whites

    • Fast developing in California vineyards

  • Pinot Blanc grape

    Pinot Blanc

    • Vineyard mutation of the famous Burgundian Pinot Noir

    • Produces soft, medium bodied whites

    • Mostly planted in cooler vineyards of central coast and Mendocino

  • Vermentino grape

    Vermentino

    • Originated in Italy (Liguria region)

    • Highly scented wine with crisp palate

    • Slowly expanding in the vineyards of central coast, Lodi and Carneros
